We're preparing them to navigate whatever destination comes next.
60,290 young people left school in Aotearoa in 2025. Some stepped into university.
Some took scholarships overseas. Some moved cities. Some chased professional sport.
Some took a 'gap year' and headed off on their first OE. And some had no clear pathway at all. By the end of 2025, 89,900 young people aged 15–24 were not in employment, education or training. The leap from school into the world is enormous.
We shouldn't just prepare rangatahi to leave school. We should prepare them for what happens next.
Most of these rangatahi have no idea what to expect when they leave school. While they are prepared for opportunities, they are not always equipped for the life changes that accompany them. Through our Aotearoa programs, we provide essential rangatahi support to help youth communities and their whanau navigate these significant transitions into the world.
